"We have been the lucky parents to have found Mrs. Karen and have her as our son’s teacher for the past two years. Our son, who was nine at the time, could barely read. We had read to him daily since infancy and tried many different reading programs, each to no avail. We had our son go through professional vision tests through an eye specialist at Children’s Hospital and dyslexia tests with other experts and everything came back normal.

His joy of finally being able to read and decipher words and then sentences and then paragraphs and now chapter books and textbooks is palpable. We are so proud of him, but most importantly, he is proud of himself.

He is now eleven and is reading above grade level. These two years with Karen have been the most incredible blessing.

While we will be sad not to have lessons with Karen and have her positive energy in our home during her lessons because he is now able to read beautifully on his own, our only consolation is that his time slots will now be open for her to improve the life of yet another child.

The love she poured into every lesson will be forever treasured in our son and family’s lives.

Even though our son did not have any kind of diagnosis, I feel Karen and the Barton program would help almost anyone with reading difficulties.

We cannot possibly express our gratitude enough to Karen for all she did for our son. Not just the gift of reading, but helping to foster his love of reading is one of the most precious gifts she could have ever given him."

"When my daughter was in 3rd grade she was struggling significantly with reading (decoding) and spelling and despite the amount of time and effort we spent on practicing and studying after school, she still failed most of her AR and spelling tests. We suspected dyslexia and due to being enrolled in a Catholic school, which didn't provide support for students with learning disabilities, we knew we needed to get outside help for her. I began searching online for tutoring for dyslexic children and found information about the Barton Method. Soon afterwards I found Karen Dupont (Ms. Karen) and Spellville as they are Certified Barton Tutors.

Ms. Karen is the best! She is a natural with kids, very patient, and extremely knowledgeable about this reading disability. She has been working with my daughter for four years, and my son who also struggled with decoding and spelling, for two years now.

Progress seemed slow at first and Ms. Karen did say it could take a while to start seeing a difference, but by the end of her 6th grade year, my daughter scored above grade level on the STAR reading test for the very first time! We were ecstatic!!!

My daughter is now in 8th grade and my son is in 6th grade. On the most recent STAR test, they both scored above grade level and are much more confident about reading these days! They both still enjoy working with Ms. Karen, because she makes learning fun and they have learned so much!

This method works! We couldn't be happier to have found Ms. Karen and Spellville and highly recommend them to anyone struggling with dyslexia!"

"Miss Karen and the Barton system were the answer to our prayers!

Miss Karen is fantastic with children, very friendly yet very professional. She is a master at the online platform to deliver her services and is very efficient, covering as much material as the student can handle in the given time frame. I am constantly impressed by how she is able to redirect attention in times of distraction, re-explain a concept in different terms (sometimes multiple times!) when there seems to be difficulty in understanding, and how in-tune she is with her pupil, recognizing the need for short breaks before dazed deer-in-headlights or meltdown ensues.

We have been with her a year and a half so far, since my daughter was 8yrs old, and we intend to continue through the entirety of the program.

"We highly recommend Spellville!!! It has been an extremely valuable service for our daughter who desperately needed the foundation, tools and support in the area of auditory processing.
